Computer carts vs. computer desks
Versatility or permanency?
The computer desk is the more "permanent" fixture in the home. It will typically be heavier, bigger, and more expensive. There are numerous styles to choose from to beautify any area of your home. There is the handsome computer armoire, discreetly keeping unsightly office supplies out of sight when the doors are closed. The corner desk is a space optimizer that seats you in the middle of the unit with access to both sides. Then, there is the desk with hutch, where you can choose from a free-standing hutch to a built-in unit to a separate desk organizer. We mustn't forget the grand executive desks, which will have utility drawers, pencil drawers, file drawers, and sometimes additional slide-out work surfaces. These executive desks can often be assembled to accommodate the right-handed or left-handed individual. In addition, there are L-shaped and U-shaped desks, and the secretary desk, depending on your preference and spatial allotment.
The computer cart is the more economical choice, without significant aesthetic sacrifices. You can find computer carts constructed of glass, steel, fiberboard, or even wood that will truly enhance any space in your home. They come on smooth-rolling casters, so if you change your mind about the location, just push it to its next home, and lock the wheels in place. There is no need to break down the entire system and move the individual PC components only to set them up again 20 feet away in the next room. These units are seemingly "no-frills," but accommodate an entire computer system and its peripherals easily, including space designated for keyboard and mouse pad, printers, fax machines, and speakers.
